STONE HARBOR – Officers were dispatched to a residence on the 200 block 94th Street for a disturbance at 4:28 p.m. May 24. The caller stated an occupant of the home was intoxicated and violent.
Upon arrival to the residence, officers made contact with a subject later identified as Wesley Minnich, 32, of Millersburg, Pa., and learned the reporting party had left the scene. Police were able to make phone contact with the reporting party and they returned to the home a short while later. Upon arrival, the reporting party identified Minnich as the subject of the call to police.
During the investigation, Minnich provided a false name and continually attempted to return inside of the home, contrary to officer instructions. He was subsequently placed under arrest for obstruction. While being taken into custody he resisted arrest refusing to be handcuffed. Once secured he attempted to strike an officer with his head and spit on another officer.
A warrant check of Minnich’s true identity found that he was wanted on two NCIC parole warrants from Pennsylvania.
Minnich was transported to the police station for processing and was subsequently charged on warrants authorized by Judge James Birchmeier with being a fugitive from justice, resisting arrest, aggravated assault on police, obstruction, hindering apprehension and throwing bodily fluid at officer.
Minnich is being held at the Cape May County Correctional Center on the New Jersey charges and pending extradition back to Pennsylvania. This case is pending review by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
