Fight Call Leads to Assault Charges

WILDWOOD CREST – Wildwood Crest Police responded to an address in the 100 west block Heather Road May 6 at 8:30 p.m. for a report of a fight in progress.

Officers investigated and learned that Brian Rhuberg, 58, of Villas, had engaged in a physical altercation with a 35-year-old male. Further investigation led to allegations that Rhuberg struck the man in the head with a golf club and broke two windows during the altercation. The male who was assaulted was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by Wildwood Crest Rescue where he was treated and released for his injuries. 

Rhuberg was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and criminal mischief. Rhuberg was lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Center with bail assessed in the amount of $50,000.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
