Fatal Stabbing in Linwood

By Herald Staff

LINWOOD — Anthony Milano’s increasingly erratic behavior led to the stabbing death of his downstairs neighbor at an age-restricted community, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor.
Catherine McGowan, 88, was found stabbed to death outside her home. Milano is now in custody following the multiple stabbings, and charged him with murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
Milano also attacked McGowan’s daughter, 60-year-old Dianne Nehmad, and an 84-year-old neighbor, Eugene Pepper, who had rushed to the defense of the two women, according to reports.
Nehmad is the wife of local attorney Stephen Nehmad.
Nehmad originally was listed in critical condition and Pepper in serious condition, though both were listed in fair condition as Oct. 8.
