This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
WILDWOOD CREST – Wildwood Crest Police received a 911 call for a motor vehicle collision near 5400 New Jersey Avenue at 10:50 p.m. Aug. 22.
Upon arrival, police found a vehicle that hit a telephone pole. The driver of the motor vehicle fled the area on foot and two passengers were still inside the vehicle. The passengers reportedly had minor injuries.
During this time, a second call was received by police dispatch that reported a stolen motor vehicle.
Wildwood Crest Police Department’s Detective Division was notified about the incident and responded to the scene.
After a thorough investigation, it was determined the two incidents were related and the driver of the vehicle, Jonathan Mountain-Graham, 28, of Court House, made the false stolen car report to police after the accident.
Wildwood Police Patrol Division found Mountain-Graham a short distance from the accident. He was charged with factitious reports to police, two counts of assault by auto, and driving under the influence.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
