CAPE MAY – A former teacher, who also served as a scoutmaster, was sentenced Feb. 2 to a year in jail for criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child, NJ.com reports.
Frank “Sandy” Thomson, of Cape May, was arrested in July 2015 following an investigation where it was learned Thomson was “grooming” a young juvenile for sexual purposes by buying him expensive gifts. The investigation revealed another juvenile male was sexually assaulted by Thomson several years ago.
At the time of his arrest, Thomson was an assistant scoutmaster with a Boy Scout Troop in West Cape May. He had worked as a teacher at a Philadelphia private school, Chestnut Hill Academy, from 1972 until 1998.
Thomson was also treasurer of the Corinthian Yacht Club in Cape May, where he met his 11-year-old victim, the report continued.
