Eight Arrested on Drug Distribution Charges; 500 Bags of Heroin Seized

COURT HOUSE- Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Wildwood Police Chief Steven Long announce the arrest of eight local residents for drug distribution charges.
The arrests are the result of a cooperative effort by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force and the Wildwood Police Department, Detective Division.
On Aug. 28, the Cape May County Regional SWAT team executed search warrants on three separate residences located in the 200 block of East Garfield Avenue, Wildwood. As a result of the investigation, approximately 500 bags of heroin were seized, with a street value of approximately $10,000. Detectives also seized cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and over $2,500.
As a result of the investigation, the following persons were lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $80,000 cash bail and charged with third degree possession of heroin and possession with intent to distribute as well as second degree possession with intent to distribute heroin within 500 feet of a public place:
-Joel Candelaria-Reyes, 29, of Wildwood
-Edgar Nieves, 24, of Wildwood
-Juan Ruiz-Perez, 30, of Wildwood
-Jose Perez-Garcia, 21, of Wildwood
-Migsael Herrrera-Dardiz, 21, of Wildwood
-Jose Delgado, 22, of Wildwood
-Juan Ruiz-Perez, 30, of Wildwood
Herrrera-Dardiz, Delgado and Ruiz-Perez were charged additionally with resisting arrest, obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence, all fourth degree crimes.
Prosecutor Taylor advises that persons convicted of a second degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of 5 to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison; persons convicted of a third degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of 3 to 5 years, and persons convicted of a fourth degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment not to exceed 18 months.
