Ecker Agrees to Plea Agreement

By Herald Staff

COURT HOUSE – Matthew Ecker, the former Lower Township Municipal Utilities Authority (MUA) executive director agreed to a plea agreement Sept. 29 in Cape May County Superior Court. The agreement allows Ecker to avoid jail time as he admitted he was guilty of witness tampering.
In lieu of incarceration, Ecker will enter the Pre-Trial Intervention (PTI) program for 18 months. If, during that time, Ecker has no violations, all charges against him will be dismissed. Ecker was also given 40 hours of community service and is not allowed to have any contact with MUA worker Jesse Matsinger.
