This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
VILLAS – Lower Township Police Department received a report of a one-car motor vehicle crash in the area of East Pacific Avenue the evening of July 18.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a vehicle, operated by Jason Wagner, 38, of Villas, had struck a mailbox and a tree. Wagner was initially found unconscious inside of the vehicle. He received emergency medical care by the Lower Township Rescue Squad and signed a refusal. A subsequent investigation led to Wagner being placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS).
Wagner was issued four motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, CDS in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane. Additionally, Wagner was criminally charged with one count possession of CDS, third degree. He was issued the aforementioned criminal charges on a criminal complaint summons and was released on his own recognizance.
This incident is currently under investigation by Patrolwoman Jennifer Anzelone and Patrolman William Kocis.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
