COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor announced that on July 13, Rafael Delgado, of Wildwood, was sentenced to seven years and six months in state prison by Judge John C. Porto.
This sentence was in connection with the “Operation Dream Chaser” investigation, a several month long large-scale narcotics investigation initiated in January 2015 by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force.
This investigation targeted Javier Alicia-Garcia as a leader of a narcotics distribution network operating in Cape May County. During this investigation, it was gleaned Delgado was part of Alicia-Garcia’s narcotic distribution network. Alicia-Garcia was previously sentenced on Sept. 30, 2016 to 17 years in state prison.
Delgado was one of 15 arrested on May 7, 2015. During the investigation, heroin, cocaine, and firearms were seized.
Delgado was indicted for possession with intent to distribute heroin and for conspiracy on Aug. 25, 2015.
Prosecutor Taylor stated that his office will continue to work hand in hand with the local municipalities along with state and federal agencies to target anyone associated with drug distributors selling illegal controlled dangerous substances.
