Domestic Disturbance Call Leads to Drug Arrest

NORTH CAPE MAY – Lower Township Police responded to the 100 block of Willow Dr. in North Cape May for a reported domestic disturbance call Jan. 11 at approximately 2:25 a.m.
Upon police arrival, the subjects were separated and during the subsequent investigation, Richard Steel, 37, was found to be in possession of marijuana in an amount under 50 grams and two vials testosterone without a prescription. Steel resisted arrest and was placed into custody ultimately being transported to the Cape May County Correctional Facility.
Judge Thomas Hillegass set bail at $25,000, full cash. Steel was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, obstruction, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of an anabolic steroid without a prescription.
This case is being investigated by Special Officer Mellina.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
