DNA Evidence Leads to Arrests in 2009 Armed Robbery

By Press Release

WILDWOOD CREST – Wildwood Crest Police Department was notified by the New Jersey Department of Criminal Justice, CODIS Unit, (Combined DNA Index System) June 2 of a positive match through DNA of a possible suspect from an armed robbery that took place in June 2009.
Sgt. Robert Lloyd investigated the crime in 2009 and secured a ski mask from the scene. That mask was submitted as evidence and tested for DNA. Until early 2014, no suspects matched the DNA collected. In June, the WCPD was notified of a positive match identifying Dillon Tracy, 26, of Clermont, NJ as an alleged suspect.
Sgt. Lloyd and Detective Mark investigated these findings and probable cause was found to issue warrants for the arrest of Tracy and Gary Twiggs Jr., 26, of Dennisville, for the alleged robbery. Tracy was arrested Sept. 16 without incident and charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Twiggs Jr. was arrested Sept. 17 and charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Both were lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Cener in lieu of $100,000 bail each.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendants are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
