Daytime Burglaries Spread to Middle Township

By Herald Staff

COURT HOUSE — Middle Township Police responded to two daytime residential burglaries on Tue. Oct., 24.
According to a media release by Township police, the suspects gained entry into the unoccupied residences through rear windows and removed televisions, computers, jewelry and other electronic equipment. The incidents occurred on Walton Street in Rio Grande and on the 500 block of Route 47 in Green Creek.
Similar burglaries were reported this past weekend in the Erma section of Lower Township.
“We believe they are possibly connected,” Capt. John Edwards of the Middle Township Police told the Herald. “It’s the same modus operandi, the items they are taking are similar, as well as the short time frame they’re occurring in.”
Residents are urged to keep their windows and doors secured and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
Anyone with information pertaining to the individuals responsible for the recent burglaries or any other criminal activity is encouraged to contact the Middle Township Police Department at 609-465-8700 or the Cape May County Crime Stoppers at 609-465-2800. All information will be kept confidential and may be reported anonymously. Anonymous tips may also be reported via www.middletownship.com and by clicking on the icon “Police Tip Line.”
