WILDWOOD CREST – Wildwood Crest police detectives with the assistance of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Sept. 8 completed a two-week long investigation into an alleged child luring case.
On Aug. 24, John Grimmeyer, 46, of Colonia, attempted to contact a juvenile male while on vacation in Wildwood Crest. Information of the attempt was turned over to the juvenile’s boss who alerted police. The investigation revealed evidence that qualified Grimmeyer to be charged with luring – child/minor, after he contacted an undercover officer who he thought was the juvenile.
Grimmeyer was arrested without incident and taken into police custody on Sept. 9. Bail was assessed at $25,000, no 10 percent. Grimmeyer was lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Center after failing to post the required amount.
