WILDWOOD CREST – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland and Wildwood Crest Police Chief Joseph McGrath announced the Jan. 24 arrests of two borough residents.
According to a release, Christopher Clegg, 27, and Kelsey Hagerthey, 23, were charged with heroin distribution.
Their arrests were the conclusion of a cooperative investigation between the County Prosecutor’s Office’s Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force and the Wildwood Crest Police Department Detective Division.
On Jan. 24, aided by the Cape May Regional SWAT Team, a court-authorized warrant was executed at the residence of Clegg and Hagerthey in the 5700 block New Jersey Avenue.
Distribution amounts of heroin were reportedly seized during the investigation. The warrant resulted from an investigation focusing on alleged heroin distribution by both parties in Wildwood Crest.
Clegg was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, third degree, and possession with intent to distribute CDS, third degree.
Hagerthey was charged with possession of CDS, third degree, possession with the intent to distribute CDS, third degree, and obstruction, fourth degree.
Both subjects were released on a summons pending a court appearance in accordance with bail reform.
Sutherland stated his office would continue to work with municipalities to target anyone selling illegal controlled dangerous substances.
