Court House Man Faces Assault, Spitting Charges

NORTH CAPE MAY — On Fri., Oct. 1 at approximately 8:25 p.m., Lower Township Special Officer Kevin Boyle, Jr. responded to a report of a large fight in progress between multiple subjects in the area of Teal and Holmes avenues.
Boyle observed at least eight subjects in the street with two male subjects involved in a physical altercation. He separated the two subjects and was then physically assaulted by one of them, identified as Barret Brown, 20 of Hereford Avenue, Court House.
Boyle was able to quickly subdue and restrain Barret and placed him under arrest for aggravated assault on a police officer.
While escorting Barret to a patrol vehicle, Barret intentionally spit blood from his mouth onto Boyle, Cpl. Edward Dougherty and Patrol Officer Jennifer Anzelone.
Barret was transported to the Lower Township Police Department where he was charged with the following offenses:
One count of aggravated assault on a police officer
Three counts of throwing bodily fluids on a police officer
Barret was lodged in county jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail set by Lower Township Municipal Court Judge David DeWeese.
