Court House Man Charged With DUI, Resisting Arrest

On May 28, at 11:48 p.m. Detective Robert Shepherd observed a White Oldsmobile Cutlass swerving on Hand Ave. and driving into the opposite lane of traffic. Det. Shepherd attempted to stop the vehicle using his emergency lights and siren. The vehicle did not stop and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit ended on North Beach Road of Reeds Beach when the accused pulled into a private residence and attempted to fight Det. Shepherd.
The accused, Anthony Massaro, 46, of Cape May Court House then fought with Det. Shepherd before he was secured. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and gave breath samples.
The accused had a blood alcohol level of .26% which was over three times the legal limit of .08% BAC.
The accused was later transported to Cape Regional Medical Center and then Cape May County Jail in lieu of $50,000. bail. Massaro is charged with driving under the influence and other traffic related offenses. Massaro was also charged with Eluding Police, Resisting Arrest by Force and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (8” double edge knife).
Det. Shepherd and Ptl. Super are investigating.
