Community Safe Surrender, Expungement Seminar Event Planned Oct. 16

WHITESBORO – The Judiciary is partnering with the Christ Gospel Love Center, 2209 Route 9, and the Coalition for a Safe Community to host a combined Community Safe Surrender and Expungement Seminar Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
No arrests will be made, according to a release. Most municipal and Superior Court matters arising in Cape May and Atlantic counties will be addressed.
Judges will be on-site to hear time payments originating in Cape May and Atlantic counties municipal courts.
Proof of attendance will be provided to participants whose complaints arose in out-of-county municipalities.
For the expungement portion, eligible applicants who pre-register will have an opportunity to complete the expungement paperwork and file the petition that day.
They must bring a government identification.
People can pre-register by contacting the court at (609) 402-0100 ext. 47866.
Judiciary staff and representatives from South Jersey Legal Services will provide participants with information on the types of criminal and juvenile records that can be expunged, the time requirements to be eligible for an expungement, the preparation and filing process and what happens after an expungement is granted. Expungement forms will be available.
Several social service agencies will also be present to provide community resource information.
Free Transportation Available
Continuous free transportation will be available from 9 a.m to 3 p.m.
at the following locations.
Transportation will travel from the pick-up site to the Christ Gospel Love Center and return riders to the pick-up site when they are done at the event.
LOWER TOWNSHIP – Recreation Center, 2600 Bayshore Road, Villas
RIO GRANDE – Fire Company Station 72, 1120 Route 47 S
WILDWOOD – Island Bowl, 3401 New Jersey Ave.
NORTH WILDWOOD – Fire Department, 400-A New Jersey Ave.
CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Acme, 11 Court House-South Dennis Road
MARMORA – Wawa, 30 S. Shore Road
OCEAN CITY – Bus Terminal (next to McDonald’s), 945 Haven Ave.
WOODBINE – Family Dollar, 434 Washington Ave.
Transportation will be provided by the Great American Trolley Company and
Cape May County Fare Free Transportation.
