Carbine Found as Police Search Vehicle; Man Charged

The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency. The person(s) named is innocent unless proven otherwise in court. 
WILDWOOD – At approximately 10:30 p.m. June 8, the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division came into contact with a vehicle parked in the 100 block of East Glenwood Avenue.
According to a release, during the course of this contact, officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and a search of the car was conducted.
As a result, suspected CDS / marijuana was recovered.
While conducting the search, officers also located a carbine rifle and loaded large-capacity magazine inside the vehicle. These items were secured as well.
As a result of this investigation, Charles Williams, 19, of Prospect Park, Pa., was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon (large-capacity magazine ), and possession of CDS / marijuana (disorderly persons offense).
Williams was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility in accordance with New Jersey’s bail reform directive.
