Car Vandal Arrested in Stone Harbor

By Herald Staff

STONE HARBOR – On July 25 at about 10:30 p.m. Sgt. Bailey of the Stone Harbor Police Department observed Mohamed Bencheqroun, 23, of West Chester, Pa. jump on the trunk of a black 2004 Pontiac that was parked and unoccupied while patrolling the 8100 block of First Avenue.
Bencheqroun then began jumping on the roof of the car, resulting in the sunroof glass breaking.
Bailey arrested Bencheqroun, who had been consuming alcoholic beverages, for criminal mischief.
A subsequent investigation showed this to be a random act, as there was no connection found between Bencheqroun and the car owner.
Bencheqroun was released on a summons charging him with criminal mischief, a fourth degree crime, and disorderly conduct.
The case was turned over to the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
