Car Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

WILDWOOD CREST – Officer Eckert of the Wildwood Crest Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop at 9:27 a.m. Sept. 29 during which time an odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted, at which time officers seized a large amount of non-prescribed oxycodone pills, drug paraphernalia, suspected marijuana, and a synthetic cannabinoid gummy.

As officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle, Damian Tirello, 35, of Wildwood Crest, he was found to be concealing suspected marijuana in his mouth. 

Tirello was placed under arrest and charged with possession with intent to distribute a schedule II narcotic, possession of a schedule II narcotic, possession of less than one ounce of a synthetic cannabinoid, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, hindering apprehension by destruction of evidence, possession of narcotics in a motor vehicle, and failure to possess a driver’s license.

Tirello was transported and lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Center.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
