CAPE MAY – Margaret J. Rovira, 47, of Cape May City was arrested for the theft of funds from a Cape May City business where she was employed as a bookkeeper.
During the course of the investigation conducted by the Economics Crime Unit of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, it was determined that Rovira stole in excess of $75,000 from her employer during her course of employment.
Rovira was arrested and charged with one count of theft, a crime of the second degree Feb. 3. Rovira was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $50,000 full cash bail, assigned by Judge James Birch Meier.
Prosecutor Taylor advises that persons convicted of a second degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of 5 to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison.

The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
