VILLAS – Lower Township Police Department received a call from an alert citizen who reported three juveniles attempting to make entry into a vacant summer residence on Hollywood Avenue in Villas Sunday, May 3 at approximately 7 p.m.
Upon arrival, Patrolman Michael Iames observed entry had been gained to the residence which suffered damage in the process.
Additional officers responded, and began a search of the area for the three juveniles. Located, hiding in a shed, a short distance from the burglary scene, were the three juveniles, ages 15, 12 and 9.
Additional investigation revealed the three juveniles forced entry into the unoccupied summer residence and took property from within that belongs to the property owner.
A controlled dangerous substance (CDS), marijuana, was found on one of the juveniles involved.
All three juveniles were released to their parents with juvenile complaints pending review by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office for burglary, theft, criminal mischief and possession of CDS.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendants are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
