LOWER TOWNSHIP POLICE REPORT:
On December 5th 2009 the Lower Township Police Department received a report from a home owner in the 300 block of Birch Road in the Villas section of Lower Township reporting that their home had been burglarized and a large 50” flat screen TV, a smaller flat screen TV, a DVD player and jewelry were removed from their home.
Two days earlier the Lower Township Police Department received a report from a caller reporting that two men were carrying a large flat screen TV off of the beach near Spruce Avenue in the Villas section of Lower Township. Patrol Officers, at that time, could not locate any suspects in that area.
On Wednesday December 9th following an ongoing investigation into the Birch Road burglary Lower Township Detectives arrested Kyle Middleton age 18 of the 100 block of Oak Avenue in the Villas for burglary and theft of property. In addition Detectives arrested a 15 year old male juvenile for burglary and theft of property as a result of the investigation.
Further investigation lead to a search warrant being executed in the 200 block of Spruce Avenue in the Villas section of Lower Township where Officers arrested Matthew Donnelly age 21 and charged him with possession of stolen property after recovering the 50” flat screen TV that was stolen from Birch Road along with the DVD player that was also stolen from Birch Road. In addition Donnelly was charged with utilizing a juvenile in the commission of a crime which is a second degree offence.
Matthew Donnelly was processed at the Lower Township Police Department and lodged in the Cape May County Jail on $35,000.00 cash bail.
Kyle Middleton was processed at the Lower Township Police Department and lodged in the Cape May County Jail on $15,000.00 cash bail for a third degree charge of burglary and theft.
The 15 year old male juvenile was transported to the juvenile detention center in Bridgeton on a third degree charge of burglary and theft.
The investigation which led to the execution of the search warrant and the recovery of the stolen property was conducted by members of the Lower Township Detective Division and Patrol Division.
