Cooper Bacon, 76, a licensed captain, was found guilty of improper navigation or failure to have a lookout, failure to take action to avoid a collision and improper overtaking of another vessel. Each conviction carries a $100 fine, the report continued.
According to previous reports, Bacon was piloting a 60-foot yacht, owned by Viking Sport Cruisers of New Gretna, N.J., between boat shows in Rhode Island and Connecticut Sept. 22, 2015 when he collided with a 23-foot outboard owned by Walter Krupinski, 81, of Stonington, Conn., who was fishing at the time.
