‘Blunt Head Trauma’ Caused The Death of North Wildwood Toddler

By Herald Staff

COURT HOUSE — Cape May County First Assistant Prosecutor J. David Meyer on Monday, March 22 released preliminary autopsy findings in the death of three year old Elijah Joseph Ulbrich.
The autopsy done by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office lists blunt head trauma or complications from suffering blunt head trauma as the cause of the North Wildwood toddlers death.
Elijah was allegedly injured on the night of Feb. 25 by Charles Kane an acquaintance of Elijah’s mother Christina Ulbrich, and had been in a coma at Cooper University Trauma Center in Camden until he died on March 17.

Kane, 35, of the Villas section of Lower Township, has been charged with aggravated manslaughter in the case and is being held in the Cape May County jail under $500,000 bail. Kane faces up to 30 years in prison, Meyer said.
The funeral for Elijah is set for noon Wednesday at Saint Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, 2900 Atlantic Avenue, in Wildwood. Friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. The burial is private, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

Friends & family established a Facebook page for a Beef ‘N’ Beer Benefit on March 27th to help pay for the ICU cost incurred. Family friend Joe Piccoli says they will now use the funds to pay for the 3 year-old’s funeral.
Donations can be sent to Friends of Elijah. 121 West Andrews Avenue. Wildwood, NJ 08260
