OCEAN CITY – A former Ocean City beach tag checker filed a lawsuit in Cape May County Superior Court earlier this year, alleging she was sexually assaulted and harassed by her former boss, according to a report on NJ.com.
The plaintiff, who has not been named, was a minor when she was hired in July 2012 by Charles Cusak, 51, a retired Ocean City cop, who was then working as superintendent of beach fee operations.
The plaintiff alleges that the assaults took place in Cusack’s home, as well as in an office along the Ocean City waterfront that housed the beach badge operations.
The lawsuit alleges child sexual abuse, discrimination, violations of civil rights, negligence and battery.
According to the report, Cusack was indicted in February on sexual assault and official misconduct charges.
The plaintiff names Ocean City in the lawsuit, claiming it didn’t provide a non-hostile, discrimination-free workplace.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
