By Press Release

AVALON — Two Pennsylvania men have been charged in connection with the thefts of two bicycles early Wednesday morning, July 14.
Avalon Police announced that theft charges have been filed against 29-year-old Ryan B. Heist of North Wales, Pa, and 26- year-old Robert W. Shiner of Collegeville, Pa.
Avalon Patrolman Eric Heisman observed two males on foot enter a bar located on Ocean Drive on TueS., July 13th, at 11:30 pm. About two hours later, Heisman observed both males riding bicycles in Avalon before they entered a local convenience store.
When the two men left the store, they walked away from the bicycles they had been riding. Heisman asked both individuals about the ownership of the bikes. During the investigation, Heisman determined that the bicycles did not belong to the two individuals who were charged with theft.

The police department has a voluntary, free bicycle registration program to help identify and recover bicycles that are stolen. Police remind residents and visitors to secure their bicycles when they are not in use.
