Avalon Police Arrest Court House Man for Bicycle Theft

AVALON — Avalon Police announced that theft charges have been filed against a Middle Township man for a bike theft that occurred in the community early Sunday morning.
Police arrested and charged 26-year-old William White of Court House with theft after White allegedly took a bicycle as part of an undercover effort by police to reduce the number of bicycle thefts.
On Sunday at approximately 2:42 a.m., Avalon Police Detective Joseph Gaughan and Patrolman Sean McNair witnessed a man who stole a bicycle that was intentionally left at 22nd Street and Dune Drive.
Police witnessed White get on the bicycle and ride off. He was apprehended after the incident and charged with theft. White was released on his own recognizance.
The Avalon Police Department continues to crack down on bicycle thefts in the community. Residents and visitors are encouraged to participate in the police department’s bicycle registration program which is free to the public.
