According to borough police, Officer Robert Walker was on patrol at that time in the vicin-ity of 96th Street and Ocean Drive when he observed two motorcycles accelerate at a high rate of speed past his marked patrol vehicle.
He estimated the speed of those motorcycles to be in excess of 50 mph through the busi-ness district before he began pursuit of both vehicles.
The pair accelerated, and headed out of town via the Great Channel Bridge to Stone Har-bor Boulevard at a continued high rate of speed.
Walked closed the distance between him and the motorcycles with emergency overhead lights and siren activated.
The first motorcycle pulled to the roadside upon seeing the patrol vehicle in pursuit.

Pollock was eventually stopped west of Scotch Bonnet Bridge, and was found to be under the influence of alcohol.
He was charged with eluding police, driving under the influence of alcohol and other mo-tor vehicle offenses
