VILLAS — Lower Township police received a report of a possible car burglary Feb. 14 about 11:15 p.m. on East New York Avenue.
The car’s owner reported she saw the exterior courtesy lights of her car on which indicated a door had just been opened. She also reported seeing a tall male wearing a tan jacket walking away from her property.
Upon arrival, police discovered a fire had just been set inside the car, which they were able to put out with an extinguisher. Villas Fire Company responded to the scene.
The car suffered some interior damage but was still operable. It was not determined if the car was locked at the time of the burglary. It appeared no items were taken from the car as coins and other items were left behind.
The incident is under investigation by Officer William Barcas and the Lower Township Detective Division.
