NORTH WILDWOOD – North Wildwood Police took a report Dec. 29 of a residence that was burglarized on the 1400 block of New York Avenue. The victim reported that several checks were stolen out of her residence and were cashed at a local bank.
Patrol Officers quickly developed a suspect, Daniel Spencer, from North Wildwood. Further investigation by North Wildwood Police Detectives Daniel Schules and Justin Melo revealed that Spencer matched the description of the suspect wanted in the CVS armed robbery in Middle Township reported on Jan. 2.
A joint investigation was started with the North Wildwood Police Department, Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Middle Township Police Department which led to the arrest of Spencer at his residence on the 100 block of E. 21st Avenue in North Wildwood Jan. 8.
Spencer, 25, residing in North Wildwood, was arrested and charged with burglary and theft for the North Wildwood incident. Bail was set on Spencer by Judge Louis J. Belasco Jr. in the amount of $25,000/full cash. Spencer was also charged by Middle Township Police with robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon for the incident at CVS. Judge Dorothy Garrabrant set bail on Spencer at $200,000/full cash for those charges. Spencer was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility on a total of $225,000/full cash bail.
