COURT HOUSE — On Sept. 11 at approximately 11:17 a.m., Middle Township police responded to Cape Regional Medical Center for a report of two suspicious, threatening telephone calls.
Upon arrival, police learned that hospital staff received threatening calls that may have been related to the recently escaped Ancora State Hospital patient and admitted murderer, William Enman.
Middle Township police with the assistance of Cape May County Sheriffs Department and Prosecutors Office as well as hospital staff conducted a complete search of the entire hospital.
The search, which took approximately two hours, and a review of hospital surveillance tapes both yielded negative results.
Middle Township police also received several calls reporting possible sightings of Enman, but found none to be confirmed.
Police were also in contact with state Human Services Police at the Ancora State Hospital.
Middle Township police had a number of other sighting reports Sept. 11, all unfounded of William Enman, 65, a patient at Ancora Psychiatric Hospital, who killed two people in 1975, who was missing from the hospital, had been seen locally.
About 3 p.m., State Police reported that Enman was again taken into custody in the woods in the vicinity of Ancora Psychiatric Hospital.
Middle Township Police Chief Joseph Evangelista told the Herald that the first report of the day was from a Stone Harbor Boulevard resident. That person believed he had seen Enman on Monday, but didn’t report it until Tuesday morning.
Police checked all those reports, the chief said.
Dennisville – As a parent of a Tech student it would be great if the school would update their staff directory. So many old staff still listed and no new teachers listed. What gives?
