WILDWOOD – Members of the Wildwood Police Department Uniformed Patrol Division were on patrol in the area of 4900 New Jersey Avenue when they observed three males wearing dark clothing acting in a suspicious manner April 5 at approximately 7:03 p.m. Patrol officers maintained surveillance of the subjects and observed them in the area of a private residence in the 100 East block Rio Grande Avenue.
Patrol officers continued to maintain surveillance in the area and observed two of the individuals exiting a residence in the 100 East block Rio Grande Avenue at an unusually fast pace, while the third individual stood outside of the residence. As the officers approached the residence, the two subjects attempted to abruptly run back inside of the property but were detained in close proximity to the residence by responding officers. The third subject was also detained outside of the property. The three individuals were identified as Sharif Wilson, 36, of Wildwood, Kyle Wilson, 34, of Wildwood, and Vincent Tyler, 24, of Philadelphia.
The preliminary investigation into the matter revealed that the three perpetrators had committed a home invasion style robbery from the property they were observed exiting from. One male occupant was encountered in the property and a quantity of marijuana in excess of 50 grams was taken from the residence. Members of the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division conducted a follow-up investigation into this incident, during which the occupant of the residence, Lee Robinson, 45, of Wildwood, provided a statement implicating himself as a street level marijuana distributor.
Accordingly, a consensual search was executed at the residence and approximately two pounds of marijuana, over 800 tablet doses of suspected steroids, over 40 vials of liquid steroids, packaging material, and a weighing device were seized in connection to this investigation.
Sharif Wilson, Kyle Wilson, and Tyler were each charged with robbery, first degree, possession marijuana with intent to distribute, third degree, possession of marijuana over 50, fourth degree, and conspiracy, fourth degree. Sharif Wilson, Kyle Wilson and Tyler were processed and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center.
Robinson was charged with possession marijuana with intent to distribute, third degree, possession of marijuana over 50, fourth degree, possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substance (CDS) schedule III, third degree, possession of CDS schedule III, third degree, and possession of a hypodermic syringe, a disorderly persons offense. Robinson was processed and released on a summons complaint.
