Alleged Burglars Caught After Fleeing Residence

OCEAN CITY – On March 11 at 12:10 a.m. the Ocean City Police Department responded to a burglary in progress of an occupied dwelling in the unit block of Simpson Avenue.
It was reported that the occupants of the house were chasing two suspects that were discovered in the first floor of the residence.
The victims reported that they were on the second floor of the house when they heard a noise on the first floor.
When they went to check on the noise they observed a tall male dressed in black standing in the kitchen area of the house.
The suspect then fled from the house via the front door. The suspect and another person who was waiting outside both ran from the occupants of the home.
It was reported that the suspects were chased to the area of Battersea and Wesley Roads.
A description of the suspects was provided to officers responding to the area. Ptl. Vogt and K-9 “Duece” were able to track the path of the suspects from the house to the area of Battersea and Asbury Roads.
Ptl. Jamie Fearnhead and Ptl. Pat Walsh then located two suspects that fit the description broadcast.
The suspects were located in the area of Battersea and Asbury Roads.
The suspects were able to be identified as those individuals that had been in the residence on Simpson Avenue.
Found on the suspects were a flashlight and knife that were used to commit the burglary. Both suspects were charged on arrest warrants issued by Judge Richard Russell, JMC.
The investigation is being conducted by Ptl. Tom Schmidt, Det. Dan Lancaster and Det. Stephen Sullivan.
