COURT HOUSE – An alleged drug kingpin, a member of the Bloods street gang, faces life in prison, and his brother and associate face up to 30 years in prison, if convicted of charges for which they were indicted by a Cape May County grand jury Feb. 25.
The pair, and 12 others, were named in a 17-count indictment, and the way was begun toward their trials, months in the future, according to Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor.
Charles “Hot Blood” Daniels, the reputed kingpin, and close associate Daniel L. “Decon” Dore were arrested after a pre-dawn raid Nov. 7 that concluded a five-month investigation into Bloods activity that reached across several jurisdictions in the county.
Daniels faces charges of being a leader of a narcotics network, gang criminality, promoting organized street crime, all crimes of the first degree.
The first count against Daniels stated “between October 2013 and November 2013, in the City of Wildwood and-or Township of Middle…did conspire with others as an organizer, supervisor, financier or manager, to engage for profit in a scheme or course of conduct to unlawfully manufacture, distribute, dispense, bring into or transport in this state cocaine…or heroin.”
The second count, against both defendants was “between October 2013 and November 2013, in the City of Wildwood and-or Township of Middle…while knowingly involved in street gang activity, did commit or conspired to commit the crimes of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance for the benefit of or at the direction of, or in association with a criminal street gang…”
The sixth count against Daniels is that “on or about Oct. 31, 2013, in the City of Wildwood…did unlawfully or knowingly or purposely distribute a controlled dangerous substance, namely, cocaine, Schedule II, within 500 feet of public property, specifically George F. Boyer Museum…”
Counts 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 against Dore involve drug distribution.
County 17 alleges that 12 others conspired with Daniels and/or Dore “to commit the crime of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, heroin, Schedule I and/or cocaine, Schedule II, a crime of the third degree.” Names in that count was: Luis Garcia, Richard J. Evans, Richard W. Collins, Kimberly C. Jones, Jennifer D. Shaw, Ernest P. McCarraher, Tasha L. Watkins, Brittany E. Kane, Niki L. Higgins, Joshua M. Graham, Amaris R. Tangree, Brian C. Will.
