COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Chief Chad Callahan of the Ocean City Police Department announce first degree robbery charges filed against Bruce W. Higgins Jr. for the robbery of the TD Bank in Ocean City.
On Dec. 15, patrol officers from the Ocean City Police Department responded to a bank alarm at the TD Bank on 9th Avenue. Upon their arrival, an unknown individual had robbed the bank and fled in an unknown direction. A subsequent investigation was conducted by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Ocean City Police Department, and the FBI.
The investigation revealed that Higgins, 42, of Herndon, Va., allegedly robbed the TD Bank in Ocean City on Dec. 15. On Dec. 16, Higgins was charged with robbery, a crime of the first degree, and lodged in the Atlantic County Correctional Facility in lieu of $250,000 full cash bail which was set by Judge John Porto, JSC.
On Dec. 16, Higgins had been taken into custody and also charged by the Atlantic City Police Department after he allegedly robbed a Wells Fargo on South Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City. Higgins is also wanted for questioning for additional robberies in Maryland.
Taylor advises that a person convicted of a first degree crime is subject to a term of imprisonment of 10 to 20 years in a New Jersey State Prison.
