All Rise, Mock Trials in Session

COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Bar Association began this year’s Cape May County High School Mock Trial Competition Jan. 7. The courtroom drama contests take place every Tuesday and Thursday starting at 6:30 p.m. through Jan. 23 at the Cape May County Superior Court, 9 North Main St. The public is invited.
As of Jan. 9, Middle Township and Wildwood Catholic were both tied 2-0.
Judging Middle and Lower Jan. 9 was Honorable Lou Belasco and Daniel Solt. Judging Wildwood Catholic and Cape May Tech were Alexis Batten and Surrogate M. Susan Sheppard.
Participating schools include Cape May County Technical High School (Teacher Coach – Matthew Pleasants; Attorney Coach – Brian McEwing, Esq.), Lower Cape May Regional High School (Teacher Coaches – Thomas R. Higgins and Alice Barnes-Vasser; Attorney Coach – Barbara Bakely-Marino, Esq.), Middle Township High School (Teacher Coach – Martina Trapani; Attorney Coach –Daniel Kurkowski, Esq.) and Wildwood Catholic High School (Teacher Coach-Craig Gras and Attorney Coach – Chris Gillin Schwartz, Esq.).
