COURT HOUSE – A joint investigation between the Middle Township Police Department, Wildwood Police Department, and Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office has led to the arrest of three people on narcotics charges.
Police announced, May 26, the arrest of James O’Conner, 33, Sean Reinek, 48, and Gina McCaffery, 34, for possession and distribution of methamphetamine and other offenses.
According to a joint press release issued by the County Prosecutor’s Office, the County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force concluded a cooperative narcotics investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine by James O’Conner of the 300 West block of Pine Avenue in Wildwood.
On the same date, the Narcotics Task Force, with the assistance of the Cape May County Regional SWAT Team, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Cape May County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, Middle Township Police Department Street Crimes Unit, and Wildwood Police Department, executed court-authorized search warrants on O’Connor’s Pine Avenue residence and vehicle, as well as the residence of McCaffery, located on Lafayette Avenue in Del Haven.
As a result of these search warrants, approximately 5 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, two stolen motorcycles, and $1,128 were seized.
O’Conner and a second man, Reinek, were charged with the following: First-degree possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine; third-degree possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine within a school zone; second-degree possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine within 500 feet of a public place; third-degree possession of methamphetamine; second-degree conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine; fourth-degree possession with intent to distribute drug paraphernalia; third-degree money laundering; and two third-degree counts of receiving stolen property.
Reinek was also found to be a fugitive from justice for first-degree drug distribution and eluding charges.
McCaffery was charged with third-degree possession of methamphetamine, placed on a summons, and released pending court proceedings.
O’Conner and Reinek were placed on a warrant and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center.
Individuals convicted of first-degree crimes are subject to a term of imprisonment of 10 to 20 years in New Jersey state prison and individuals convicted of second-degree crimes are subject to a term of imprisonment of five to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
