This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
CAPE MAY – On April 27, at approximately 6:11 p.m., officers from the Cape May Police Department responded to a call from a concerned citizen in reference to a possible incident with two unknown men who were possibly armed attempting to take a vehicle from Mark Coleman.
According to a release, upon the arrival of officers, all subjects were removed from the vehicle without incident and it was determined that none of the subjects were armed.
During initial contact with the vehicle, officers could detect the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Subsequent investigation revealed that within the vehicle were various items of drug paraphernalia as well as marijuana. It was also determined that one of the subjects, Coleman, was accompanied by a young boy and Coleman was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia.
As a result of the investigation, Christian Ortega, 19, from Vineland, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while suspended. Joquarry Gibson, 18, from Millville, was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams. Gibson and Ortega were released on a summons.
Coleman, 46, from Leesburg, was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of prescription legend drugs, fourth degree, and child endangerment, fourth degree. Coleman was placed in Cape May County Correctional Center on a warrant.
