COURT HOUSE – The arrests of Luis A. Vazquez, 30, and Alexander Davis, 41, both of Woodbine for the first-degree charge of strict liability in a drug-induced death was announced by Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief William Mastriana of the Lower Township Police Department in a March 3 release.
According to the release, on Feb. 29, Lower Township Police patrol officers responded to the 200 block of Cedardale Road in Villas for the report of an unresponsive male.
Officers discovered the victim, Derek Clayton, 31, had suffered an apparent fatal drug overdose. The Lower Township Police Detective Bureau, Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Narcotics Task Force immediately initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Clayton’s death.
