The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency. The person(s) named is innocent until proven otherwise in court.
ERMA – On Aug. 20, at approximately 3:45 a.m., officers from the Lower Township Police Department responded to an alleged assault in progress at the Shade Tree Village in Erma.
The actors had apparently fled in an unknown vehicle before officers arrived. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, who had sustained serious injuries to his head and arms. He was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for treatment.
After further investigation, officers were able to ascertain the identity of the alleged actors, Niki Kelley, 26, of Rio Grande, and Zachary Thompson, 25, of Green Creek.
Lower Township Police Department officers, along with the assistance of Middle Township police officers, responded to a Middle Township location where both suspects were taken into custody.
The suspects were transported to Lower Township Police Department where they were processed and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Municipal Court Judge Thomas Hillegass approved warrants for Thompson and Kelley. Both subjects were lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Center pending court.
