By Press Release

The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency. The person named is innocent until proven otherwise in court.
WILDWOOD – On Sept. 18 at approximately 4:19 p.m., members of the Wildwood Police Department Uniform and Detective Divisions responded to a bank in the 3100 block of New Jersey Avenue, Wildwood, in connection to a reported robbery in progress.
While on scene it was determined that an unidentified white male entered the bank and presented the teller with a handwritten note demanding money. The individual was described as being approximately 5’9″ to 5’10” with a slender body build. The individual was reportedly wearing a white bandanna on his head with sunglasses, a long sleeve camouflage style shirt, black sweat pants, and white shoes. The individual did not receive any money from the teller and left the bank without further incident, seen traveling southbound on New Jersey Avenue.
The follow-up investigation was conducted by the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division, Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Cape May County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (Northfield Office).
During the course of the investigation, a person of interest was developed, and the identity of the white male responsible for the robbery was determined to be Brandon Ivens, 30, of Wildwood. Shortly thereafter, Ivens was located at his residence and taken into custody, in connection to the ongoing investigation.
During the investigation a court-authorized search warrant was executed at Ivens’ residence. As a result of the physical search of the premises several items identified as having evidential value were collected, which implicated Ivens in the bank robbery.
Ivens was charged with robbery and criminal attempt robbery. Ivens was processed and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center, following the standards of the Attorney General Guidelines specific to the Bail Reform Charging Directive.
