Cape May Court House – The Cape May County Historical & Genealogical Society today announced the recipients of their history awards presented each year in recognition of persons or agencies that are committed to preserving the history of Cape May County. The awards will be distributed at the Society’s Annual Winter Reception on Thursday, December 2nd at the Avalon Links Restaurant at the Avalon Country Club.
The winners this year of the Heritage Award for the restoration of a historic property are Jack Connolly and Jerry McManus for their restoration of the Captain Charles J. Crawford House in Dennisville. The Legacy Award, given to a government official or department in recognition of support for historic issues, will be given to Lower Township Mayor Michael Beck. The Young Historian Award, given to a young person for their commitment to preservation of our history, will be awarded to Stephen Thomas for his dedication to preserving the early trades of the county. The Lifetime Achievement Award, given in recognition of a lifetime of advocacy for historic preservation in Cape May County will be awarded to Dr. Joseph and Patricia Anne Salvatore.
