COURT HOUSE – APRIL 9: The afternoon report by state officials on COVID-19 infections reconciles with the most recent county-level data, with both stating that the county has experienced three deaths associated with the virus.
County numbers, as of the evening of April 8, put the number of confirmed cases in the county at 111, while the state dashboard updated today shows 109. The slight difference is likely due to timing issues.
Yesterday, the county reported its third death, an 81-year-old male resident of the Victoria Manor, a long term care facility, in Lower Township. An outbreak at the facility caused a spike in the positive case numbers for Lower Township in recent days and accounted for the death of another resident, an 86-year-old man. The county’s first death was a 72-year-old female, from Upper Township.
Public releases from the county provide limited information on confirmed cases by municipality but offer no insight into the severity of cases, the number of hospitalizations, or the number of ill patients who may be on ventilators.
Since March 31, when the county reported 26 total cases, the first nine days of April saw that number grow to 111 positive tests, a growth of 85 new cases. In addition to the three deaths, the county report lists 15 individuals well enough to be removed from quarantine, leaving 93 active cases.
Chart data reflects the latest information from the county Department of Health issues in late afternoon April 8.
