Cape May County Law Enforcement Memorial Service

The public is invited to attend the annual Cape May County Law Enforcement Memorial Service on Tuesday, May 10, 2011. The Service will take place at 11 a.m. at the Cape May County Public Safety Training Center located at 171 Crest Haven Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey.
The Cape May County Police Academy and the Cape May County Chiefs of Police hold a memorial service each year to remember and honor police officers killed in the line of duty in Cape May County.
Speakers at the Memorial Service will include Congressman Frank LoBiondo, State Senator Jeff Van Drew, Assemblymen Nelson Albano and Matt Milam, Freeholder Director Daniel Beyel, Freeholder Ralph E. Sheets, Jr., Sheriff Gary Schaffer, Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor, Chief Robert Matteucci, President, CMC Chiefs of Police Association and Father Steven Rapposelli, Our Lady of Angels Church, CMCH.
Additionally, the program includes a Roll Call of the Fallen by Cadets of the Cape May County Police Academy, a presentation of the wreath ceremony with the Cape-Atlantic Police and Fire Irish Pipe Brigade, the Ocean City PBA, the Cape May County PBA and the Cape May County FOP. The 21 Gun Salute & Taps will be provided by the United States Coast Guard Training Center Ceremonial Detail
Freeholder Ralph E. Sheets, Jr. said, “Every one of us – regardless of our profession or station in life – recognizes that there is no greater purpose in life than serving and protecting one’s community. And there is no greater honor than having the courage to sacrifice one’s life in fulfilling this purpose.”
