Cape May County Division of Culture and Heritage Hosts Art Exhibit at the Beesley House Art Gallery

Cape May Court House – Local artists are on display at the Cape May County Division of Culture and Heritage’s new art gallery at their headquarters at the Beesley House located at 605 Route 9 North in Cape May Court House. The art gallery will feature Cape May County artists with special themed exhibits throughout the year. Currently, award winning artists that participated in the Division-sponsored National Arts Programs are on display.
The local artists include: Lois Adam, Edward J. Ayers, James Betts, Janice Lake Betts, Michael Cunningham, Peg Dittmar, Martha Doris, Catherine Elam, Tina Giaimo, John Hansen, Rosalie Hettenbach, Victoria Mauro, Chelsey May, Kathleen Nichols, Grace Payne, Kathleen Pendlebury, Jamie Roth, Joseph E. Salvatore, M.D., Sarah Schiffelbein and Pat Wenzel.
The Cape May County Division of Culture and Heritage promotes public interest and participation in local and county arts, history and culture. Also, it supports the development of the county’s arts, history and cultural organizations. The Division, under the direction of a nine-member volunteer Culture and Heritage Commission, is the designated county agency to apply for, receive and administer annual block grants or re-grants from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the New Jersey Historical Commission.
The Division provides technical assistance and workshops for artists and organizations in the county; promotes arts and history education in schools; co-sponsors a Visiting Author/Illustrator program with the County Library; sponsors meetings to address local groups’ current cultural and administrative concerns; maintains a County Culture and Heritage website cmcculture.org which features links to local groups; and coordinates the county’s annual participation in the National Arts Program®.
