I was excited to hear about Cape May Stage’s 2006 season this week.
Even though I don’t live in Cape May any longer, I will certainly be returning to catch at least a show or two this year, and I encourage you to see all of them if you can.
After all, it’s easy and affordable with their Subscription Series, which costs just $99 for the season. That’s 50 percent off the regular ticket prices! Subscriptions are available until the season starts in May.

This year’s season features the following productions: “K2” by Patrick Meyers from May 24 – July 1.
Jed Feuer’s and Boyd Graham’s musical comedy, “The Big Bang” from July 5 – August 19.
Arthur Miller’s drama “The Price” plays from August 23 – September 23.
Stephen Mallatratt’s thriller “The Woman in Black” scares from September 27 – October 29.
 The ever-popular annual Holiday Show will run from November 24 – December 23.

In addition, July brings the Annual Flying Solo Festival, with an exciting roster of cutting edge solo artists in repertory.
On Monday and Tuesday nights, July 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, 31 and August 1, see some of the most innovative, thought provoking, new original one-person performances in American theatre.

As I promised last week, I have more details about Cape May’s Spring Festival, which begins Friday night and runs through May 7.
This Saturday and Sunday, the Chamber of Commerce is hosting Secret Garden Tours that will take you on a 60-minute guided tour revealing the backyard beauty secrets of Cape May’s expert gardeners.
Tours run every hour from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and cost $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the Chamber office at 884-5508.
On the day of the tour, stop by 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the information booth on the Washington Street Mall.

In conjunction with the Secret Garden Tours, the 25th Annual Home and Garden Show will be held at Convention Hall. 
On Saturday the event runs from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and on Sunday it’s from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The show features interior designers, hand painted tiles and windows, fabrics, antiques, landscapers, florists and more.
There will be a flower sale in the lobby and a “Spring Garden” question and answer table featuring garden experts from Rutgers Cooperative Research & Extension Center Master Gardener Program and much more.

The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC) is also hosting seemingly countless events for the Spring Festival.
On Saturday, stop by the Physick Estate to browse the open-air marketplace featuring the handmade crafts offered by dozens of vendors.
The show runs from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and admission is free.
Refreshments will be available during the show.
Visitors to the Physick Estate can also enjoy the Wheaton Village Glassblowers, who will be demonstrating their art both weekends during Spring Festival.

Among the many other events MAC has planned for the week, they’re debuting a brand-new tour called “Dr. Phy-sick’s Favorite Haunts Tour.”
You’ll enjoy a trolley ride through Cape May’s beautiful gaslit streets as your guide tells you all about the ghostly characters who inhabit our town.
Afterward, you’ll visit the Physick Estate to learn about Victorian attitudes towards séances and mediums.
If you’re lucky (or unlucky) you might even run into a ghost. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children. Dates and times vary.
