The league will run from May through August, with games played on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.
Fields used include the U.S. Coast Guard, Cape May County Park and Goshen Sports Complex.
So, if spring is on your mind and you can’t wait to hear the crack of a ball against a bat, call the rec department at 884-9565 to join the league.

The folks over at the Center for Community Arts (CCA) also have spring in mind, as they start to plan their annual spring fundraising gala.
This year, the party’s theme is “Evening in Paris,” and it will be on March 10 from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Congress Hall.
“Congress Hall will be chic and tres jolie, with French-themed foods, dancing and a few surprises,” said Judy Austermiller, CCA’s Development Director.
One highlight of the evening will be the “Chapeau Challenge,” with prizes for the men and women wearing the most creative hats or berets.
“Plan to come for a great time and to raise a few francs for CCA,” she added.
CCA is currently soliciting art, fine crafts and other items for a silent auction to be held during the evening.
Persons with items they are willing to donate for the auction should contact Judy Austermiller at CCA, 884-7525.
Tickets are $35 in advance through March 9, $40 at the door.
They go on sale February 13 at CCA, 712 Lafayette St., and the Whale’s Tale, (312 Washington Street Mall, or you can reserve your ticket with a credit card by calling CCA, 884-7525.
As those of you who read this column regularly know, CCA does so much for Cape May. I hope you all buy tickets or donate an auction an item to help them make this fundraiser a success.

For those of you who aren’t looking to push past February just as it arrives, never fear.
I have some timely updates for you, too.
Right now the City of Cape May Library, Ocean and Hughes Streets, is offering a “Cool Readers Club,” an independent readers club for children in kindergarten through fifth grades.
Displays located in the library’s children room will present reading materials featuring winter and its many enjoyable activities.
Cool Readers Club Members are required to sign up at the library’s circulation desk and receive a packet of material needed to participate.
Members must read at least four of the books on display, then fill out and return a review sheet for each book read to receive a prize. Children are allowed help with reading if needed. Additionally, a special winter program of stories, crafts and treats will be held for club members.

Another great program for kids is scheduled this Saturday at the Nature Center. From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., “Kids Can Rock” as they learn all about the mysteries of geology.
Participants will dig for “fossils,” investigate rocks, and identify bones. Each child will go home with a fossil identification book and more. Cost is $15 for non-members and $10 for members. Call 898-8848 to pre-register your child, space is limited.
