For an entire weekend, New Jersey residents and visitors and can be wined, dined and serenaded because a Mediterranean breeze is blowing our way: the first annual Tuscany by the Sea, from Thursday, July 10 to Sunday, July 13. It will have participants basking in the many activities of the event.
On Thursday, participants can enjoy an Italian dinner with wine tasting available at the Sorella Rose Restaurant located on 701 First Ave. in Avalon.
This dinner benefits the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children.
Located in Avalon, the vacation home, according to its Web site, was founded in 1970 and accommodates children ages seven to 15.
The dinner will also benefit Avalon Chamber of Commerce. The entire benefit was developed by Jackie Ewing from Armadillo, also located in Avalon.

A bocce tournament will be held on Saturday, July 12 on the beach next to Community Hall, 30th and Avalon Avenue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This tournament has no entrance fee.
The Avalon Public Library will be hosting its second “Italian Opera Extravaganza,” The Symphony by the Sea’s series on Saturday, July 12 at 7 p.m at Avalon Elementary School.
The Bay-Atlantic Symphony will be featured, playing the music from operas such as La Boheme and La Traviata. According to Bob Watters, who is on Board of directors of the Bay-Atlantic Symphony, the audience will comprise nearly 700 people.
“The Board of Directors of the Bay-Atlantic Symphony and the Board of Directors of the Avalon Performing Arts Council and I have been very active in bringing the Bay-Atlantic Symphony to Avalon,” Watters said.
