Boardwalk Repairs Complete, No Cost to Taxpayers

A section of the Wildwoods Boardwalk suffered storm damage April 13

By Press Release

WILDWOOD – A severe windstorm uplifted and overturned timber sections of the Wildwood Boardwalk April 13, leaving substantial damage between Rio Grande and Burk avenues. City commissioners and engineers rushed out the same day to assess the damage followed the next day by insurance adjusters. The insurance carrier agreed to pay for the repairs in full.
According to a release, DeBlasio & Associates, P.C. was selected to assist the Wildwood in providing engineering services to help fix the damage, with a completion due date June 12, and finished on time once again, allowing pedestrian traffic along the full course of the historic Wildwoods Boardwalk.
According to Marc DiBlasio, “We’re honored and privileged to work with the City of Wildwood and recognize the importance of the Boardwalk to the vitality of not only the businesses located on it, but also to the entire county. Our team quickly responded to make the repairs. The Wildwood Boardwalk is officially open.”
Mayor Pete Byron confirmed that the repairs were at zero cost to taxpayers.
“Addressing long-standing infrastructure issues without burdening taxpayers is at the top of our agenda, and we are pleased that our constituents will not be unnecessarily burdened by this unexpected expense,” the mayor stated.
“I’m happy to report that the Boardwalk repairs are complete in anticipation of a full reopening of all Wildwood businesses,” stated Commissioner Steve Mikulski.
Commissioner Krista Fitzsimmons stated, “I’m pleased the engineer aggressively moved this project forward  and has been extremely cooperative during this entire process.”
